Canadian Cancer Society’s RELAY FOR LIFE - June 4, 2010

 

Once again this year Blakely Wealth Management participated in the Oakville Relay for Life event at Appleby College. Cancer has touched all of our lives in some way and unfortunately, over the past year we also had two clients lose the battle against cancer. We would like to thank our clients who came out to the event and visited us at the ScotiaMcLeod corporate tent. We had set a fundraising goal of $10,000 for the ScotiaMcLeod Oakville office and we are delighted that the office raised over $12,000. Blakely Wealth Management was one of the top 10 fundraisers.

Background of the Canadian Cancer Society's RELAY FOR LIFE

At Blakely Wealth Management, we are a team-oriented group that believes that there are causes that need to be addressed as much as planning for your financial future. When we meet with a prospective client, we spend time assessing their financial situation and creating a long-term plan to reach their defined goals. It is a long-term challenge that if working as a team, will be accomplished. The same preparation, discipline, and strategy are needed when fighting the battle against cancer. With cancer being an issue that has affected so many Canadian families, including several members of Blakely Wealth Management, it was the obvious choice to support such a cause. Approximately 2 out of every 5 Canadians will develop cancer during their lifetime, and unfortunately, one out of every 4 Canadians will die of cancer.

 

Relay For Life is a celebration of survival and a tribute to the lives of loved ones who have been touched by cancer. Walking with everyone in this inspirational 12-hour overnight experience is something that we take great pride in and look forward to every year, as we attempt to make cancer history!

 

Since Relay For Life came to Oakville in 2002, Blakely Wealth Management has been active supporters from the beginning. In 2010, the Relay For Life: Oakville Unit raised over $450, 000.00 which is very impressive considering the ongoing economic conditions. We are delighted to have played a part in raising money for such a worthwhile cause.

 

 

Blakely Wealth Management shows a passion for client service and client commitment on a daily basis, but we also share a passion for our community and helping those within it. We feel that it is just as important to provide support and raise funds for your financial future, as it is to provide encouragement and raise funds for those that have been touched by such an indiscriminating disease such as cancer. With the help of everyone, we will overcome this battle.
